Fleas... -
July 20th 2010, 09:27 PM
We have themWe had the about...4 years ago at our old house and to get rid of them we had to bomb our house, spray the yard, and get our dogs dipped 3 weekends in a row. Of course, our dogs got mildly sick- not too bad. But the fleas were gone. How we got them again, I'm not sure. But we plan to bomb the house and spray the yard again. I want to know if there's anything simpler to get at least some of the fleas to go away. My poor old Dachshund has chewed so much that he has a few bald spots on his back. Is there any medicine, any old secrets? Lol we need help. I can't sit on the sofa without fleas hopping on me. ![]() ![]() |

If your dogs have fleas I suggest giving them a flea bath and then looking into using Fronline plus. http://frontline.us.merial.com/ is where this can be found. We use it on our dog and it works wonders.
I also suggest you clean all your bed sheets, blankets, etc as well. You could call in the pest exterminator.possibly as well. Getting rid of fleas on your cat or dog alone does not tackle the overall flea problem. During the flea cycle only about 5% of fleas are actually living on your dog or cat. The other 95% of fleas (in one stage or another) are living in your house or yard. That is why it is so important to kill the fleas in your house and on your cat or dog at the same time. For example: If you wash your cat or dog today with a flea rinse and you kill 30 fleas that are living on your pet, that means that there are still approximately 570 fleas developing in your house. |

That's why we have to bomb the house with some sort of chemical, which wipes them out.
But you have to bomb it more than once because it doesn't kill flea eggs. And that also means we have to spray the yard more than once too.I think we tried frontline and idk if it worked. Flea collars only keep the fleas away from their necks and their dog shampoo isn't all that great. ![]() ![]() |

Chuck the dogs in the garden and spray everything (sofas, carpets etc) in the morning when the whole family wont be in the house all day. The dogs can stay in the garden. Wash them all with anti flee shampoo and spray them. That should get rid of them for good :/
