My dog IS the father BUT... - August 15th 2010, 12:45 AM

I have a Chihuahua and he is not fixed. The neighbor has a Pomeranian and she isnt fixed. When we moved in the neighbor noticed our dog wasnt fixed. He said it was ok if they run around together because he wanted some puppies. Well, of course she had puppies now and he is now saying they arent ours. What do I do?

This sounds like Maury for dogs.

Honestly, the only thing I can think to do is get a DNA test done or ordered of both dogs and the puppies. Then again, all that does is prove your dog sired the pups. Nothing really you can do without having signed a contract in the beginning about the terms of who has "custody" over the pups.

Personally, I disagree with backyard breeding, as I take it there aren't any homes lined up? If I were you, I'd make sure the pom's owner knows you're willing to take on the pups he can't find homes for and find homes for them yourselves. It'd be a shame to see them end up in the shelter. I wouldn't put it past him if he's denying that your dog is the sire. =/

I think if it is a Chihuahua/Pomeranian cross it will be fairly obvious by how it looks. What breed is he claiming the father is?
By looking at the puppies you could probably tell.

This is what a pomchi looks like

There's not much you can do anyway I don't think unless you signed a contract first about who got custody over the puppies.
