Hi there, I love pets. I adopt Cats, fish, dogs and rabbits.

Pets are great additions to the family. I have a cat, but I used to have 2 others, a hampster and a fish tank full of fish. =]

I love having pets around. They were generally the only ones that could help me feel better. Especially my dog. Unfortunately, we had to get rid of him. The only down fall to having a pet is that they are hard to clean up after. They can be costly as well. But of course, nothing is ever perfect.

I don't adopt pets because I already have a dog and I don't think I can handle more animals. But I do like to go and help out in the animal shelther here where I live.

I only have two cats and a dog now, but in the past I've had birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, and fish. There's only been one time in my life - two years, maybe - when I didn't have pets, and, honestly, I did not enjoy that at all.

Yess, I love animals. I've never had a dog or anything though, I just play around with friend's dogs. I used to have a snake.

However, I wouldn't get pets just for the hell of it anymore. It pains me to see dogs who are tied up all day, don't have a big yard, and just goes on walks here and there. The same goes for caged animals, like rabbits, snakes, hamsters and the like. I know many may disagree, but I find it wrong to keep animals like that (I gave away my snake because I couldn't handle seeing him in that cage anymore).

if I were to get a dog, I'd want specific requirements for my place so my dog would enjoy it just as much (such as a BIG yard).

I can totally understand where you're coming from. I work at a dog kennel and I hate seeing the dogs in cages all the time(they're pretty big cages(probably something like 8ft x 6ft), but still). It makes me glad that my dog has a huge yard to play in as well as tons of room to run around inside. My horse has a nice big pasture too. I feel bad for the horses that live in stalls all the time(Especially if they aren't ridden every day).

My idea of pets isn't that you get them because you want them, rather you get them because you want them and will/do care for them in every way possible. It takes a lot to ever get me angry but seeing a dog tied up in a tiny cage or backyard in the cold, is one of the times the dog owner should be running fast and far. I understand if people don't have lots of money so they cant give it a large backyard, that's fine but leaving it out in the cold, not fine the dog can go in the house, mine do. I've actually had people over at my house and say all dogs go outside and grabbed the dog's collar to bring it outside. I grabbed the person's collar and said they go outside before the dog. I once also had my uncle throw my dog's new toy into the garbage for some unexplained reason then swat the dog away. My father threw my uncle's shoes and jacket outside while it was raining, didn't let him back in until I took my slow sweet time cleaning off the dog's toy.

lmao nice. My friend threw a kid against a wall for shooting a water gun at her cat and she threw a kid off a bike for throwing a rock at her other cat. So far nobody has tried to mess with my animals (thankfully for them)

Unfortunately, my dog was put down after 16 and a half years last year, so I no longer have any pets, but I certainly do love them. I would think of getting one after I leave university, probably a Husky :P

As someone with 3 snakes, I have to point out that snakes are a lot more content with their lives if they don't have too much space. Sure, you could go for a massive enclosure, but in most cases that would just make the snake feel a bit insecure and stay in it's favourite hide all day, too scared to really come out.

It's been proven by herptologists in fact that they show less signs of stress in small-but-adequete enclosures. That said, whilst I know my pretties would be happier in a small box with a bowl of water and some aspen substrate, I have them in 3x1x1 vivariums full of fake plants/branches etc. though I'm under no illusions, that's all for my own benefit than the animals.

If you're going to argue, however, about their range in the wild, I should remind you that unless it's mating season, a given snake's range would probably be quite small if they've found an area with plenty of food. That and how such an argument could be used as one against keeping animals in captivity at all, which is a completely different thing.
