my dog... advice?? - July 14th 2011, 03:34 PM

I guess I don't really know what to do anymore. My dog lives at my friends house because my mom won't let me keep her. I pay for everything of course, but I hate going over there because the house is always a disaster and my dog always poos on herself because she doesn't get taken out. I feel horrible and of course clean it up. I hate going to the house because I have to have organization and every time I am there I clean, and it just gets back to nast FAST. I guess I am angry with her because she just told me that she doesn't know why she keeps my dog for me because I haven't seen her in a couple of days and she told me that I don't love her. I can't get my dog out of there because no one else can take her for me. It hurts to see her in her cage all the time. I take her whenever I can but then it hurts to have to bring her back. I just don't know what to do anymore. I can't have her until I move out and I even though I am 18 I can't move out yet. I am at a total loss. Does anyone have any advice or anything on what I could do?

Honestly, you probably shouldn't have gotten a dog if you weren't aloud to keep it in your house. I know you love your dog, but if you can't take care of it then you should probably find another home for it all together. I'd put her up for adoption or take it to the human society. They're good people, and they'll find a good home for her. Sometimes they'll even let you adopt the dog back if it hasn't been sold in a few months or years once you move out, or even let you go and visit her.

You could always volunteer there too, if you want to check in on her. I just personally don't think a dog should be kept in a bad environment at all, even if the owner really loves it. It'd be a tough decision no doubt, but by taking on the responsibility of a pet you need to make the right decisions here and either find a new home to place her, or put her up for adoption all together.

Take me seriously.
I dare you.

I agree with Marissa, it's nice to see you care for your dog but I don't know see why you got it if you couldn't keep it. I cant put much blame on your friend as you said their house is already a mess, add on a dog they admit to not knowing how to take care of. I don't know how it all unfolded, perhaps you dropped it off at their house one day or perhaps you planned it ahead of time with them but you must have had some knowledge they didn't know what to do with it or a messy house wouldn't be ideal. I would be thankful they haven't given it back to you or gave it away. If I were you I would try to see if you could care for it in the house you are in but if you cannot, then put it up for adoption so it can find a better home.

I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.

Sorry. The house wasn't a mess but now is. I did have her but I had to give her away so I gave her to thus friend who at the time was a good owner till things went to crap. I took the dog out of the house and gave her to another friend to have. It wasn't a horrible living environment just not up to my standards. She has a new home now. Thanks though.
