My cat wont stop puking - September 27th 2011, 05:02 AM

I honestly don't know what's wrong with him. I didn't feed him anything other than what he usually eats, and he has all his shots. It's not hairballs, its some sort of yucky stuff. I probably need to take him to a vet. Me and my sister are getting mad, he is doing it every hour or so.

Knowledge is half the battle.

Is it possible he ate something that you don't know about by accident? Perhaps something not even edible at all. Anyway if it continues I'd say see a vet to be safe.
Good luck xx

It's normal for cats to occasionally throw up, due to hairballs, eating too fast, eating something they shouldn't have etc. However, they normally do it the once and then they are fine. If your cat is throwing up every hour, then he/she definitely needs to go to a vet as soon as possible.

It's probably best to see a vet - your cat may have eaten something or may have been poisoned (sorry if that scares you ). It's probably best to see a vet, in the mean time, give your cat some water, as they will probably be dehydrated from being sick every hour. Also it might an idea to clean it up with a tissue or a cloth and take the cloth with the sick on it to the vets with you so that if it is poisoning the vets can test the sick to find out what poison it is, and find an anti-dote/treatment that will get your cat better. (I know taking some of it with you on a cloth/tissue sounds pretty grim/revolting, but it may help the vet)

Chronic vomiting is usually an SOS/911 moment, something is really wrong, go to the vet ASAP!

As an FYI, although the behavior is unsettling and annoying, its best to remember that it is also uncontrollable, its not on purpose. We tend to not get angry with those who have symptoms (even disgusting ones) as a result of being sick.

Yes, I have to agree with the others: get him to the vet as soon as possible!

Several years ago, my cat was throwing up and acting sick all the time. We took him to the vet, and it turned out that he had swallowed some of my mom's string. Had we gotten him there any later, we would have lost him. He had to have surgery; he's still with us, and it's been about ten years.

My cat did this before, he was fine after a day or two he had some kind of tummy bug.

But it is defininatly a good idea to take him to the vets, you don't wanna let him be at risk. <3

Do you have any house plants?
One of our cats eats plants constantly, and then throws them up until it's completely out of her system.
