Worried - December 2nd 2011, 01:45 PM

My kitty cat has been throwing up a lot recently. It worries me because he is already a smaller cat and it seems that he doesn't actually get much down. I don't know what I would do if I lost him. He is my life. Anyone know what might be wrong and/or what I should do?

Hey there!
I had a cat that used to get sick a lot. What we did was change her cat food to the kind that helps with hairballs, and that seemed to help If you find that nothing's helping and it's really bad, you could always take him to the vet and get him checked out. Sometimes you can even call the vet and just ask them, too.
Hope your cat feels better soon!

First things first, change the food. My aunts got a cat that can't eat anything with any sort of beef in it, for whatever reason. Either with or without the hairball prevention, it might be that too. If the problem persists, just go to a vet.

Take me seriously.

Yes, the food. Sometimes it's an allergic reaction to something they eat. Or it could be hairballs and changing to a hairball remedy (or snacks with hairball treatment) will help.

If the cat is being really lethargic (tired) and not as alert, then it is probably sick which then needs to be seen by a vet.

However, if it's still playing and jumps at loud noises, etc. then it is likely due to the food or hairballs.

Thanks for replying guys. The problem with that is he is a very picky cat and will only eat a certain kind of food. we've tried buying different food but he refuses to eat it and begs for table scraps instead.

I hate if this comes off the wrong way, but your cat probably begs for table scraps because someone at some point continued to feed her from the table.

You could probably lock your kitty up when you eat, then she'll understand you're not going to give her food, and she'll start eating her food instead. Trust me, she won't starve herself to death or anything.

Actually, cats are known to starve themselves out of stubborness.

What was he fed before you had him? Switching foods can make an animal NOT eat becuase they don't recognize the new stuff as food.

If you must, you might need to wet some of the kibble down and syringe feed it until he realizes what you are giving him is food.

What has your vet said?

Hey there!

Cats are picky and mine is a fatty :P ANYWAY

What KIND of food are you feeding your cat? A lot of food you can buy at wal-mart or target is CRAP food and i mean it. The food there will shorten your pets life and they won't be nearly as healthy.

Also, do you give the baby wet food? I know a lot of people don't like giving wet food because it is expensive and yadda yadda, but let me let you in on a little secret, it is EXTREMELY important cats get wet food. Cats don't like drinking water, so they don't drink enough to hydrate themselves. My cat gets a spoonful or two a day to help him stay hydrated, but he also gets dry food.

But when it comes to food, stay away from a few items... corn.

Corn has noooo benefit whatso ever, to you or your cat, its just a filler and it will make you really fat and you don't get any of the nutrition you need.

Byproduct. Byproduct is nasty, you would never find it in your meat. By product is anything left over of the animal and thrown in.... and left over, I mean food that had fallen on the floor and swept up and put back in the machine. Its nasty, I wouldnt eat it and I wouldn't let my animals eat it.

But yeah food is important and feel free to ask me anything about food with animals. I have done quite a bit of research on it and when I put my dogs on the better food, I saw such a difference in their health and attitude!

I hope your baby gets better, I'll keep her/him in my thoughts
