Another dog bit his paw >:( - January 17th 2012, 12:42 PM

My dad took Charlie (my six year old dog) for a walk earlier and there was a small dog on the road licking chocolate. Charlie wanted to lick some too and the small dog bit him on the paw Now Charlie's limping The bite doesn't look that deep but I'm worried Should I take him up the vets? or should I just make sure the cut is clean?

When in doubt, head over to the vets! That my motto anyway, without looking at the wound I couldn't tell you either way. Hopefully, the vet will just say it's all good, and to keep an eye on it. I doubt your dog will need stitches though, doesn't sound like it. Maybe some dressings though.

Take me seriously.
I dare you.

Poor baby I'll book an appointment in the morning. He's still limping a little

That would be a waste of money. The vet will likely just give you Ozonol or Iodine.

Ozonol or polysporne are both creams used to speed healing.

Iodine will prevent infection, but may stain the fur for a short period of time.

If the injury seems to get worse rather than better after a week, it's infected and then you should go to see a vet.

Okay, he has stopped limping so that's a good sign
