Exclamation Self harm? - May 19th 2013, 11:45 PM

This thread has been labeled as triggering by the original poster or by a Moderator. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I didn't know exactly where to out this thread, so feel free to move it if it doesn't fit.

Lately i've been having the urges to SH, and although I have recently...lately i've found myself pouring hot candle wax on me then peeling it off. It doesn't really hurt, it just leaves a hot sensation on my skin. It doesn't even leave a mark actually. (such as a burn) I guess what i'm trying to ask is if you guys think this is a way to SH? I use it as an alternative.

I am perfectly imperfect, beautiful in my flaws, chaotic, fearless...a beautiful disaster.

Hey, Sunnie

I actually do the same thing as an alternative. Putting Elmer's glue on your hands and peeling it off works, too. If you're doing it to hurt yourself (It doesn't sound like you are) then it is self-harm. But since you're not I don't think it is self-harm.

I don't think strictly counts as self harm because you aren't doing it to hurt yourself. I do think this is an improvement but I also think that you should still work on doing even better and using lighrer and lighter alternatives.

Good luck

It would bother me if you DIDN'T ask for help.

No, it's not to hurt myself. I just kinda like the warm feeling/peeling the wax off. Cassie, I use glue sometimes too, but we don't have anymore =/

The way I define self-harm, is doing stuff to intentionally hurt yourself. If it's an alternative, a sensation, and not for pain, then I wouldn't call it self-harm.

You're doing good trying to find alternatives! Keep it up. Oh and hey, message me anytime if you need anything.

Stay strong.
