if it harms you, then yes you could consider it self harm. A lot of people consider eating disorders to be a form of self harm.

Well, just about anything you deliberately do to harm yourself counts as self-harm. Like Emily stated, a lot of people consider eating disorders to be a form of self harm, but the line needs to be drawn somewhere. If you starve/purge, do you do with the intent of doing harm to yourself? In that case, I would say it is definitely self-harm.

I agree with Gareth and Emily - if you are doing it to cause yourself harm, then it is a form of self harm. While eating disorders could also be considered self harm, in my personal opinion it depends on the intent behind the eating disorder. Some people starve themselves or purge because they want to be skinny, without any intention of hurting themselves. But you could also starve/purge to cause yourself harm, and that would be considered self-harming. I think how you classify it is mainly based on the intentions behind it.

Either way, I really encourage you to do all you can to stop before it goes too far. Talking to someone you trust is probably your best bet. It may be hard, but it's worth it. I'm here if you ever need someone to talk to.

If you are starving or purging in order to do physical harm to your body then yes it will be considered self injury. Anything that is done to intentionally injure or harm yourself can be considered self harm. Try to find other ways to cope that are healthier and safer as well as seek help for what you're going through.
