Question did you find 'don't call me crazy' triggering ???? - July 9th 2013, 12:04 PM

for those of you who don't know what it was it was a three part series that ended yesterday that took place in a mental health unit(the McGuiness unit ) .... and there were self harmers people with eating disorders, suicidal people and people who saw/heard things that weren't there but anyway... I noticed that it majorly triggered me and triggered two of my friends.......... so I was wondering did any of you guys find it triggering as well ?

Did the thread state that it would be triggering?
Most of those will be considered triggering for you to know.
If it did state that it was triggering then i suggest next time pay close attention and not read the next.
If it did not, then you can always comment and suggest that it be titled triggering.

We hate that it triggered you and two of your friends.

Oh yes, it triggered me badly!! The first episode especially. They should have had a warning beforehand saying that there were images of self harm.

I am unsure of what you are talking about however I am surprised and find it horrible that they did not place a trigger warning.
Was this a tv series?

Yeah, it was extremely triggering for me... the television company should of warned audiences of possible triggers

I guess it was a little close to home so I found it a little triggering.

I agree with Dez, from what I watched online it wasn't too bad but still it would have been nice if they had given some sort of warning for people.

Watched it online, personally I think apart from the start it was done rather well and I found it touching, TV programmes of that sort always have the potential to show triggering content and I think to people who are not at a risk at being triggered, it's worth it to show the true reality of mental illness.

I found the programme really interesting actually.

I think the only bits that made me feel a bit rubbish were when people described how they attempted suicide and when the staff were looking outside of the windows for self harm tools.

I think it was lovely that they followed her whole journey seeing as she was there the longest. It was also really nice to see her get discharged at the end of it

I didn't find it too bad but I think that's because they never made a huge deal out of showing the SH cuts. If they were shown, they were just shown as a part of the person, the images of them were always explained, so it wasn't like they were glorifying it. I mean, it bothered me, but it was nothing I couldn't deal with. Overall I found the show really interesting.

I did get extremely triggered but I was pleased that I actually watched it. I believe that it is a very good series to watch as it helps normal people to understand mental illness a bit more.

It reminded me when I was in hospital in February after a large OD and had to have a physiciatrist watching me all night.

I found it triggering in parts the channel airing this show did it say 'this may contain some upsetting scenes' so I suppose that is a trigger warning within itself.

I thought it did warn you at the start?
I though it was really interesting, I found parts of it triggering but I'm glad that this program was on. I think it really opened people's eyes to things like that, especially if they've never really come across anything like that before.
