I'm am very conflicted right now.
I have built a habit of holding in the emotions and locking them away.
they have built to the point where it is becoming painful to hold in but i'm scarred to let them go because i have held onto them for years and I am scarred of how I will feel once letting them go
I am desperate for advise and have almost gone back to SH.

I know what it's like to hold everything in but that just builds and builds until you explode. Anyways my advise to you is to talk to someone you trust like an adult, a teacher, a school councillor,or maybe even a therapist. Also I don't have the link for you but if your afraid of cutting you can always try the alternatives thread on here they are healthy ways to distract yourself and kick the habit of cutting. If you ever need to talk you can always pm me.

Hey Broken,

First of all, well done for not resolving to Self-Harm. Once you get back into the cycle it's incredibly difficult to get out of, so well done!

Next, as for your emotions, it's really not healthy to lock everything away, and it won't help you stay away from SH, believe me. A safe way to express your emotions without holding them in is venting. Venting is basically writing or typing up how you feel either anonymously or publicly, allowing you to get everything out of your system.

Venting is incredibly useful for when you feel like you need to unleash your emotions safely, so try making a journal; either a cyber journal (link here) or just a written journal.

If you do want people to see how you're feeling and try to help you, I would recommend the blog section here. You can also make a thread here, just call it something like Vent: (Vent Topic) and I'm sure you'll receive some helpful replies.

Finally, if you'd like you can message me via VM/PM and talk to me about your emotions, I'll try and help you as best I can.

You can do this, we all believe in you.

Hi there!

Locking everything away doesn't really benefit you at all. Instead it makes things be held inside of you until they build up, ready to burst, whether emotionally or through self harm, neither one being healthy.

I think letting these feelings go can be scary at first, but after that, the long term effects of it are really amazing. It can really help to have support around you. You can speak to someone like a family member or friend, teacher, guidance counselor, school nurse, or other trusted adult. These people care and will be willing to help you through everything. It's so worth it!

Also find ways to express your emotions such as through writing, art, or music. Exercise is also a great way to release stress.

This is the alterantives thread Frankie was talking about. These are healthier, safer ways to cope so you won't have to worry about self harm.

You can do this!
