im weaker then before - February 11th 2014, 09:53 PM

Before the month and a half I didnt sh, I did it about once to twicw a week, but now because the time I gave in I have now done it three times in four days..... includimg today

Hey there.

Cutting releases endorphins in the brain, giving temporary relief from what you're feeling. It also makes one feel when they're otherwise numb. Thus, a lot of people become addicted to SH after a certain period of time. However, there are other ways to release endorphins and to make yourself feel good. I strongly suggest to take a look at this thread to find good distractions for when you're feeling the need to harm yourself. Some may work for you, some may not. Try as many as you'd like until you find some that work for you!

I'm addicted to SH, and cutting. But when I wanna SH I've adopted the rubber band thing, flicking a rubber band on your wrist sorta works..It sometimes does for me. So MAYBE it'll help you? Try it. I hope it works, it's better than cutting, cutting only leaves scars.

Hi, Ryan!

Cassie explained pretty well how it works. And she is right, there's a lot of other ways to release endorphins. Such as exercise for example. The alternatives list is really helpful, maybe you could try out some things on there when you get urges. Just don't give up on recovery. You can do it!
