wanting to cut for the hell of it - March 5th 2014, 07:54 PM

So as the title says I want to cut for the hell of it. I haven't cut in two months and I miss it. I actually went and bought blades yesterday. Anyways last night I got pissed off at my grandma and grandpa and I wanted to cut but didn't so I don't know if that has something to do with it. But I think it's because I just miss it and want to feel it again. I don't know. Has this happened to other people?

We may be picking up the pieces here on after,
We are fragile, we are human,
We are shaped by the light we let through us,
We break fast, cause we are glass.
Cause we are glass.

The longer you go without, the easier it gets to stay away from it. While I have not tried to "harm" in a few years, I do still get that urge. It's not exactly gone, but the desire to sate that craving becomes less demanding each day I don't do it. Keep your will strong and you can overcome that feeling.

That might be true for you but it's a load of crap when it comes to me the longer I go the stronger and more frequent the urges are.

I'm more like you. I've been off a long time, but I still think about it on a daily basis. Some days the urge is worse than it was, even when i was cutting. My parents found out so no matter how bad I want it, there's no way to hide it, so I've had plenty of time for the urge to well up. I can't offer any help since I'm struggling too, but I understand where you're coming from. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk.

You say you've only gone two months without. It may not seem true to you yet, but if you can hold on a bit longer, it will. The first few months are always the hardest, but once you get over that initial hump, it isn't so bad. This is true for many types of addictions/dependencies. You feel horrible at first when you deprive yourself, but if you go long enough without, it will eventually get easier. I know it took me about 5 months for mine to subside.

I've actually gone four years without it before and the urges just get worse and worse not better. Everyone is different. It doesn't get easier it get's hard for me.
