Almost Clean - April 19th 2014, 03:38 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of self harm, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

Well, I started to SH sometime around Christmas. It had to do with me being sad, about life, friends, etc. I didn't cut often, or much, but when I did it was deep and I had a hard time stopping the bleeding.

I managed to hide it from my parents (Completely, they never noticed, it was long sleeve weather so it was easy to hide my wrists). To this day they don't know.

I also starved myself for a week or so, not to be skinny or anything, but because I was i a pretty dark place, and made lots of bad self destructive decisions. This didn't last long because I love food, but it was on and off for a bit. I lost a significant number of pounds to where my parents started noticing so I began eating again.

With the help of my closest friends and my girlfriend I've been able to stop cutting, and gotten into a much better state of mind and I've saved myself, I guess. It's been maybe 4 weeks since I last cut but I have no urge to do so anymore, and I've begun to like myself a bit more, and no longer feel any urge to destroy myself.

It is so amazing that you were able to tell your closest friends and girlfriend about this! It takes so much strength to reach out to people, and even more strength to stop self harming, and you are doing so well by going four weeks! It seems as if you are making tons of progress, so keep it up!

I'm really glad to hear that you're making such good progress. You're doing well, so keep up what you're doing! It's great that you've reached out to those around you. It takes a lot of courage to do that. Feel free to reach out here if you need any support along the way of recovery. Message me if you need. Stay strong!

I was only able to talk to my girlfriend about it because she dealt with SH herself. My friend saw my wrist... didn't mean to involve her or any of my other friends at all but that's how it went. Thanks for the Encouragement tho, Dezzzzzzzpop.

I'm glad you at least told someone about the self-harm. I'm glad that you were able to get help from them and stop. I'm also glad that you don't have urges to cut. Congrats on the four weeks.
