Unhappy Getting bad again - January 29th 2015, 11:06 PM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of self harm, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I've been relapsing a lot lately. And I hate myself for it. I don't know why I even decided to go back to these habits. I know its not safe or healthy but I just cant help myself. I've been cutting daily. I don't know what to do.

Hey,

I'm sorry this issue is coming back to you again. There are a few awesome resources on this site that you can take a look at, like this list of alternative (http://www.teenhelp.org/forums/f12-s...ves-self-harm/). There's a lot to chose from, and the best thing to do is try several -- if one doesn't work, try an alternative in a different category. These may not make your urges to self harm completely go away, but I found that they did help a bit.

Secondly, maybe you could tell a close friend, family member, or school counselor. Someone you trust might be able to help you, and just to be there for you to talk to. If there's someone who already knows about this, you could try just having a chat with them about it -- it might help to get some of it off your chest.

Remember that you've recovered from this before. This doesn't mean you're going to be cutting forever, just that you slipped a little during your recovery. Think of why you stopped in the first place. Is there anything that helped then, like a certain person you could talk to or activity that distracted you?

I hope you're okay. Shoot me a message if you need anything or just want to chat. You got through this before, and you can do it again. Remember, this is just a slip that you can get through.

Hey there, I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this. I can honestly say I know how you're feeling. I relapsed myself recently, and it hurt me badly to know I had sunk to old habits. Thing to remember is you're human, and you fight day to day battles. Some you win, and some you just have to fight daily. The important thing is you're trying your best to fight it. Never give up, or feel it is helpless. Recovery is a day by day act, and is possible. You always have the list of alternatives that is linked above, and you have all us here at teenhelp to talk to. Things will get better, and you will beat this. I promise. Stay strong okay? PM if you ever need to talk. <3
