Help - September 8th 2015, 08:27 PM

I can't breath. Both of my arms are numb. My eyes burn. I'm alone, which triggers me more than anything. Depression and anxiety are really bad today. I wasn't fine before school started, but because of horrible teachers I'm ten times worse. Please help I feel like I'm falling again.

Hey,

The stressors that come along with school can be really difficult to cope with and I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling so much right now. You said the teachers are upsetting you, but is anything else regarding school upsetting you? Teachers are there to help and I believe their responsibilities as teachers extend further than just academic help. If there's something in particular that your teachers are doing that you find triggering, I think you should let them know about it. Perhaps you can explain that you're struggling a lot with some personal things and would prefer if they refrained from doing something or if they did it in a different way. Don't be afraid to ask them for help if you need to! That's what they're there for.

When you're alone, is it by choice? If so, try to surround yourself by people so you're less likely to harm yourself. Maybe you can take your homework and sit in the living room or something so you're around other people. If you can't be around other people, I suggest coming on TeenHelp and going into the chat room or messaging someone so you don't feel as alone. You're more than welcome to message me if you'd like to.

It sounds like you'd benefit from doing physical things to combat your urges to self harm. Maybe you can consider taking a walk for a change of scenery. The sun will help you feel better, and the exercise will release endorphins (also released by self-harm) to help improve your mood. You could also punch or scream into a pillow, stomp your feet, or dance it out to really loud music. Holding something in your hands such as a stress ball might help too.
