[Edited] Trick? - September 27th 2015, 10:38 PM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of self harm, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

So I've heard of this thing where you can put [Edited] in your hand and squeeze an [Edited], and seeing as how cutting doesn't help as much (My shoulder wouldn't stop bleeding, but I can't feel cuts anymore) and other 'alternatives' don't help, I'd like to try this. However, I want to make sure I'm doing it right, and want to know what sort of marks it leaves, if any. Since a recent hospitalization my family is very very...present...and this is something I'd like to know beforehand.

War doesn't determine who is right, only who is left.

Re: Ice Cube+Salt Trick? - September 27th 2015, 11:13 PM

Hey there,

The benefit of using the ice cube technique as an alternative to self-harm is the fact that the frozen nature of the ice cube will produce a burning sensation in your hand after a certain period of time, which helps many people achieve the pain that they would get from cutting without the more permanent effects. The only marking that may be left behind is redness for a period of time, which is a result of your hand getting too cold. Your hand may also feel a bit raw or chapped after using this technique, which is something to be aware of. Because of the heat of your hand, the ice cube will melt before any more permanent marks can be left behind. The redness will likely go away in a relatively short time period.

I'm proud of you for seeking an alternative to cutting and hope this one works for you!

An ice cube by itself is fine, it doesn't do any permanent damage to you. However, NEVER use [Edited] together it causes an actual burn and leave bad scars.

Teenhelp does not encourage self-harm, so we will not tell you how to harm yourself. I don't think you're looking for any advice in regards to what you're going through, so I won't give you any but no one here will give you tips on how to self-harm.
