TW cement wall - October 1st 2015, 07:43 AM

does this count has self harm? i took a punch at a cement wall yesterday....and many other days and it starts to bleed. could i have broken bones too?? cause i havent broken any. people wonder why my knuckles have cuts n scrapes i just say i have to go pee reaal bad and leave cause idk what theyll think or do. just about 5 months clean!! but its just so hard to do things. like im not comfortable using knives or the oven/stove or shaving or even looking at a glass window. ugh i wanna cry. punching a cement wall is better than cutting. right?

If you are doing this to harm yourself then it does count as self harm. While, initially it might seem like it is better then cutting/burning/scratching etc it can do some severe damage. The fact is that you could, potentially, break the bones on your hand or you could break your wrist. This can be dangerous and it is not something you want to do. From my experience things like this tend to progress because you start not getting the same feelings or release.

Do you know what is causing you to feel like you want to do this to yourself? Maybe if you talk about these emotions you can work on finding a resolution of some kind.

Best of luck and if you want to chat feel free to message me.

Hi there.

I think if you did this to purposely hurt yourself at the time then it would be classed as self harm, yes. No ways of self harm are a good idea and they can all be dangerous in some ways. You deserve more than putting yourself at the health risks you are putting yourself at.

I don't know whats going on for you right now but I want you to know that I am here if you want to talk. I know talking can seem scary but you aren't alone in this and we're here for you, okay? You are more than welcome to shoot me a PM if you want too, anytime. Just remember there are better ways to deal with things other than self harming. Have you tried using distractions such as watching tv, writing things down, playing a game, going on your laptop, painting, reading, going for a run etc. I know it can get tedius but they can really help us in the moment.

If you do want to talk, then you know where I am. You can do this so keep fighting through it all and believe in yourself,

Take good care of you!
