I think this is a great idea! I have a little bin by my bed with stuff in it. I think you should just include anything that keeps you happy, or distracted. I struggle with dissociation, so I have some fidget toys like putty, kinetic sand, or strong perfume in mine. I also have a stress ball, and a few other things. In my self-harm one, I had pictures of loved ones (or otherwise happy things), bath bombs, glow sticks (you can't self-harm until the glow runs out). Let us know what you end up putting in there.

Re: Happy box - February 14th 2016, 12:49 AM

My mini desk kit has a lots of smelly and tactile things in it. A soap sample, calming lotion, a scented hand sanitizer, a rice stress ball (easy to make. see how to here, you can use anything you want really), a grounding bracelet I made (basically a regular bracelet, just has some bumpy beads on it for grounding), silly putty, and a texture board I made on a piece of card board (has some string, sponge, cotton, glitter, and shredded paper on it). In my larger happy, or coping skills box that I call it, it has activities for me to do like coloring supplies, knitting supplies, weaving supplies, and some post cards if I want to write a letter to someone or myself about how I'm feeling and either send it or not (it doesn't matter).

Hope this helped!

There is nothing pretty about damage, about pain, about heartache.
What is beautiful is their strength, their resilience, their fortitude

wreckage of their life to build something beautiful brand new,
against every odd that is stacked against them.” — Nikita Gill

I have one as well. It has scent oil with my favourite scent, a stress ball, sweets, a notebook with inspiring and up lifting quotes and pictures, a small box of my favourit tea, a red pen and a list from therapy where everyone wrote what the like about me most. And at the bottom theres a list of names and phone numbers so i always know theres someone there.

It's ok to give in to an urge or make a mistake. You are only human and we all have our flaws. We all have our weak moments and we all make mistakes. Thats what makes us human.
Thats what makes us unique and beautiful

Courage isn't always a loud roar. Sometimes it is a quiet whisper at the end of a day saying: Tomorrow I will try it again!
