Worried... - April 19th 2017, 03:19 PM

Can self-harm scars affect what jobs you can get?

Also, does anyone have scars here...and have a partner who knows about them? I'm worried that no one will ever want me because of my scars. I'm scared...

It all depends on the person responsible for employing people. Some don't understand and would probably deny you the job but there are many employeres who don't mind. Generally I would try to cover them up at an job interview (if possible) so they can get a first impression and don't judge simply because of some scars.
So it could maybe cause some difficulties but especially if you can cover them up for the interview you should be fine.

As for partners. I had a girlfriend and she knew. She even saw them and she never minded. So its possible. There will always be people who'll freak out when they learn about your scars but I think if someone really loves you they'll be ok with it. They might be scared angry or unsure on how to act at first so don't let a first negativ reaction discourage you. They might just need some time to understand and get used to it. But for most people its not a deal breaker.

It's ok to give in to an urge or make a mistake. You are only human and we all have our flaws. We all have our weak moments and we all make mistakes. Thats what makes us human.
Thats what makes us unique and beautiful

Courage isn't always a loud roar. Sometimes it is a quiet whisper at the end of a day saying: Tomorrow I will try it again!

I have heard of people who have been fired because the work in customer service with their scars fully showing and ignorant customers become displeased with employees not being perfect with their scars. But at the same time there are jobs that don't care so it all depends on what you want to do.
I have scars and I have been both loved despite them and harassed because of them. The person who really truly loves you will love you despite the scars.

It honestly all depends on what company, how bad they are, and where they're located. I have a few scars on my forearms, but it's never altered whether or not I get the job.

I have a lot of scars on my legs and arms. My arms aren't as bad as they used to be. However, if I'm ever going to be sexually active with someone, I need to tell them about it first as that's where all of my scars are. Most people are fine with it.
