Cuts? - July 29th 2017, 03:44 AM

So I cut on my thighs, and it's summer. I want to wear short but I don't want my family finding out I still self harm. I don't want to have to wear pants all the time in this hot weather, so what should I do??

PM me if you need to talk!! ❤️❤️

There are so many things which can be helpful so you don't have to suffer so much. I found the right medication that worked for me and now I don't suffer anymore and I feel "normal" (which is new to me) and I'm so grateful for all the support and help I've gotten. I hope you can someday find someone who will understand, who can help you get the help you need so you can feel well again. I've been surprised just how many people out there actually do understand, they just hide it. (Look for the other person wearing long sleeves and pants on the hot summer day.)

Hey There,
Not wearing short shorts . So instead wear ones that a little lower or do Bermudas. That way you can still wear shorts and no one will suspect a thing. Also if you go swimming I would wear shorts over the bathing suit.

I know you know this but the best thing is to stop cutting. But I also know you can only do that when you are ready.

Essa has a good idea in wearing shorts that are a little bit longer so you can still wear shorts without having your cuts exposed. You could also wear leggings under your shorts. You could use short leggings, or longer or capri length ones as leggings are usually lightweight.

If you decide to wear shorts over your bathing suit, try athletic shorts. They are the same material and some of them have a little bit of spandex underneath for more coverage. There also tend to be bathing suit shorts in the clothes section of a store, too, and a lot of stores have began clearing them out so you may be able to find a few inexpensive pairs.

Leggings are a great idea if you are comfortable in them.

Something else you could consider is wearing skirts. As long as they aren't super short they should cover a decent portion of your thighs. I personally am not a fan of skirts but I know a lot of people who love wearing summer skirts or summer dresses.

So, something like this:

(This is called a maxi dress and my sister in law wears them all the time. We also live in a city that gets relatively hot and I think these don't lead to her getting overheated too often).

Of course, these options are really only possible if you are comfortable in them. I hate dresses and skirts and even though I find summer skirts and dresses to be really nice I am not comfortable enough to wear them.
