It's okay. It's not okay to hurt yourself, but it's okay to relapse. Everybody who's trying to quit anything does it, so don't feel too bad or too guilty.

I hope you have someone to talk to about this. It does help. Or next time you feel like doing it, distract yourself maybe? Try alternatives and if those don't help, I hope you find some way to distract yourself from hurting yourself again. Good luck. And stay strong. For yourself, if not for anybody else.

Hey Britt,

I know that it's already been said but it is okay to slip up - everyone does it and I really doubt that anyone has quit self harm without slipping up once or twice - you are fighting something that can be considered an addiction - it's difficult to give anything up that you're used to.

I'm so glad that you recognise that you were doing so well! You should be proud of yourself for that too. You were doing well without self-harming, it must've been hard but you got through some time without self harming and that's such a wonderful achievement. Praise yourself for that - make sure you know how well you've been doing, because you deserve to be proud of yourself.

The fact that you have been doing so well shows that you are capable of getting by without self harm, Britt. Try and remind yourself of alternative coping methods before you think of self harming. This may mean that you have to stop and think, but that's okay - there's already a list of alternatives [here] so you don't even have to stop and think of other things to do. It could really help you to distract yourself.

Do you have any offline support, Britt? Someone who you can talk to? Talking to someone face to face may help you, or even talking on a hotline if you feel as though that would help. Of course, we're always here for you.

Take care.

Hey there, everyone slips up but you just have to pick yourself back up remember your doing well for getting as far as you did, and start over, believe in yourself. You can do this, we know you can do it and you will.

Hey Britt =]
Just forget about it.
everyone slips up at some point.
But you can try again and maybe set yourself a target of how long you want to reach without hurting yourself, then when you reach that target, you can feel good and keep going and set another target, pretty soon you will have stopped hurting yourself so much and you won't think about it as much. like set an example of a week, when you get to a week, change your target to a month, then 2 months, then 3 ... etc, then 6 months. =]
Pm me if ya wanna talk =]
