Hey there JJ,

It is not normal to experience numbness in your fingers from self-harming and I think that this is something to be concerned about.
You may be suffering from one of the long-term consequences or effects of self-harm. It is very possible to damage tendons, nerves, blood vessels and muscles if you're cutting yourself. If you do cut and damage a nerve, you can be left with permanent weakness or numbness.
I am not a medical professional and I can't assess you or give you any treatment for this or say this is what you definitely have - it could be something completely different. If you are experiencing numbness in your fingers I really would encourage you to see a doctor and get it checked out. They will be able to help you and give you the treatment that you need for this.

Take care.

They're bound by a certain amount of it. Self harm is usually something they have to speak to your parents about. But you can always call and ask them what their confidentiality policies are. They're more than happy to let you know.

It is important that even with the fear of them seeing your arm that you go get this looked at. As Stephanie said, it's not normal to have your fingers go numb.

Best of luck!
Maria.

Hey,

I agree with Maria and Stephenie; you need to go to a doctor because your fingers going numb is not normal at all. A doctor will be the only one who can help you figure out why they are numb. And, like Stephenie said when you are cutting you can damage tendons, nerves, muscles, etc which is never good and if this happened a doctor will be the only one who can help you out.

I realize how scary it can be to talk to a doctor about all of this but please go to them so that you can get the proper care.

Please hang in there and if you ever need anything please feel free to pm me.
