17 magazine - August 11th 2009, 06:58 PM

Yesterday I got my seventeen magazine the september issue and I was reading it before i went to bed and I saw an article that caught my attention and I'm really happy they put it in there it was about self-harm. The article is just about a teenage girl and her story with self-harm and how far it got before she reliezed she needed to quit..and she eventaully did.
I'm just really glad that they put this article in here because I am a recovering cutter haven't cut in two years and i'm glad that more people are reliezing this is becoming a bigger problem and that it needs to be recgonized.

Don't lose who you are, in the blur of the stars
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing,
It's okay not to be okay
Sometimes it's hard, to follow your heart
Tears don't mean you're losing, everybody's bruising,
Just be true to who you are

yeah, it's great to hear that they put that in there.
more and more people are turning to cutting and selfharm as a way to cope and it's becoming a big problem for people.
i hope that if selfharmers read that, it will give them that inspiration to stop.
nobody deserves to be hurt like that, especially from themselves.

I have to admit, Seventeen always has a really good article that hits close to home.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but who's on the cover? Because I have the last one with Hayden Pattenwhatever on the cover - is this a brand new one?

I was JUST about to make a thread like this! kudos to getting there first!

I was shocked/excited to see this article. I thought it was GREAT to see something like this in the magazine. ((although I thought most of the fashion in it was pretty ugly, and expensive. I can't spend $20 on a ring!))

The best thing was, it was a true story. And it went pretty into depth about the desperation she felt, and that it wasn't emo/goth/etc. I really enjoyed the article.
