I really want to sh - August 15th 2009, 10:11 PM

I haven't sh for a week and it's driving me crazy...I want to not do it but there is part of me saying that i want to and there is another part of me saying not to and I keep mentally getting closer to the part that says to...I can't stop myself from thinking about it, I try to distract myself but it's so hard to.

It is so hard beating a urge. I know ive been having the exact same problem as you. But please stay strong. I know you can make it to 8,8,10 days SH free.

You must put more weight on not self-injuring than doing so. You need to find the motivation to stop self-injuring to make yourself stronger. I can assure you that the more time that passes, the easier it will become.
If distracting yourself with activities doesn't work well, maybe you should consider surrounding yourself with people - that way you will be forced not to do anything. After a while, it will probably get better - to where you can overcome triggers on your own. I am always here if you want to talk - message me! Best of luck.

Hey Christina,

It sounds like you have really confusing feelings about self harming because on one hand you want to self harm but on the other you don't. I think you are really strong and should be proud of yourself for not self harming for a week. That is a great achievement!

I think deep down you realise that you don't want to self harm. I know it is so hard when all you want to do is self harm but really you don't want to. But you have come this far already, which shows that you can do this. You don't have to self harm. Do you know if anything in particular has helped you over the last week not to self harm? If so perhaps it could help you now. The urges will get easier in time even though right now they might seem impossible to fight. You can do it though Maybe try writing down a list of reasons why you shouldn't self harm. Then when you feel confused about it and like you want to do it but you don't you can remind yourself of the reasons why you don't want to do it. Just think about the scars you will be left with, isolation it causes and just how addictive it is.

I hope you find the strength to get though the urge to self harm Christina. I think you can do it because you are strong and detemined to have got this far
