Just saying 'ello. - September 16th 2009, 02:18 AM

Hey, just signed up for these forums, and thought I'd tell a bit about myself and say hello.

I'm 15 years old, in grade 10, and have been self-injurying for three months. It's a bit embarrassing, but a girl is the one who kicked it off, I liked her, and she liked my best mate. Normally this wouldn't be that bad, but this was the 5th time in a row this has happened to me, and for some reason all my envy of my best friend just came pouring out with her, and quite frankly, I felt I couldn't take it, and began to cut.

I haven't cut for 6 days now, and am planning to celebrate not cutting for a week tommorow, maybe buying something for myself? I'll do whatever I feel like, a day just for me!

I'll be hanging 'round here a bit, so if you ever want to chat about something, cutting, sports, guitar, whatever, drop me a PM, I'll be happy to chat, anywho, talk to you lot later.

Hello, and welcome to teenhelp. My name is Angela, and I'm a buddy here. I'm glad you joined this site, you will find great ways to stop self harming yourself. I'm almost 6 months free myself. We have two stickey threads that you should look at in this forum, they will help you get advice and use the forums. We also have a chat room where you can meet other teens from around the world. If you need anything at all, feel free to PM me.

P.S. I'm proud of you for not cutting for 6 days, that is so great!!!!!!! Yeah, go and buy something special for yourself, You deserve it!!!!!!!!!!!

Can someone move this to Arivals and Departures forum? I think it is supposed to go there.

You are beautiful just the way you are.
Looking like a fallen star.
Don't listen to what people say.
They don't know the real you, anyways.

Hey there,

I think it is great that you are trying to stop the self harm. That takes a lot of strength. You should be really proud of yourself. I think that rewarding yourself for going without self harm is a great idea as well.

If you ever find yourself struggling with the urge I would suggest using the alternatives ( http://forums.teenhelp.org/f12-self-...ves-self-harm/) and, if you want or need someone to talk to either come here or use the a hotline (http://forums.teenhelp.org/f3-general/t22-hotlines/).

Also, if you have someone offline you can talk to about all of this that would be great. It might be a hard thing to do but in the end it will be worth it because then you will have someone to confide in and you will be able to go to them and have them help talk you through an urge.

Best of luck and if you ever need someone to talk to feel free to pm me.

Jenna

Hello! Nice to meet you.
One week is a great accomplishment; I know it's especially difficult in the first few months, so you definitely should be proud of yourself. A day just for you is a great idea!
You don't have to be embarrassed about self-injury or why you started self-harming. Nobody is glad that they did it, and everybody has problems. I'm glad you're willing to talk about them, though. I'm willing to talk about any of those things with you anytime. =]
