Hey there,

I know how tough it can be to deal with all of this and it really is a scary thing but when you are ready you will be able to beat this. I think the best thing for you to do is talk to someone about this. I know it will be hard but it can help. When you talk you will be able to figure out the reasons behind the sh and then you will come to deal with those problems instead of bottling them away. Please give it a try.

Now, when you are ready to stop I recommend that you take a look at the alternatives ( http://forums.teenhelp.org/f12-self-...ves-self-harm/). They come in handy when a person wants to fight an urge.

Please hang in there and if you ever need to talk feel free to pm me. And, know that with time and proper help you will be okay.

Jenna

Hey there,

I know that you have said that you don't want to stop self-harming but there are several reasons that you should. I am sure that you are aware that self harm isn't a good thing for you because you are here, reaching out and it is really great that you are reaching out - sometimes we need to be reminded of some of the reasons why we shouldn't self harm and that's okay. Self harm is exactly that - hurting yourself unnecessarily and putting your body at risk from infection and severe injuries, it is easy to make mistakes or to hurt yourself further than you mean to, it becomes addictive the more you do it and it is an awful thing.

You dont need to self harm, you just want to self harm, which may sound strange but it's true and this want can turn into a very difficult addiction to deal with, as you may already be seeing in yourself ("now i can't stop, and i don't want to stop.") and this is a scary thing. You can control this want though, because you simply just do not have to give in, you don't have to hurt yourself and you don't deserve to be hurting. Have you found anything that helps you with these urges? The alternatives sticky [here] has a good list of distractions that you may want to try out when you're trying to find things that do help you. Talking to people about how you're feeling and expressing your emotions in a different way can also be very helpful (whether it is through written words, art, music or talking). Finding out why you self harm is very important. It is perfectly possible to give up self harm and you can refrain from doing it, yes it's difficult, but it is not impossible.

Believe in yourself.
