Relapse after Relapse. - September 24th 2009, 02:03 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering by the original poster or by a Moderator. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

Background on me: I have been cutting since I was 9 years old, I am now 17 almost 18. So that is 8 years of SI. i have been stopping and relapsing over and over again.

Well recently it has been just coming back into my way to cope with pain. I feel weaker and more vunerable if I cry, so i just cut it out on my thighs. I have no way of controlling these urges since I have been giving in so easily lately.

I know I am going to be slicing my thighs up when everyone goes to sleep.

Is there anyone you can go to for support? Just try to hang in there and make goals for yourself, so that it will be easier not to cut the next time. Try doing something mind numbing to distract you. video games always work well.

Hey Barb,
I understand how hard it can be to stop cutting. I had the same thing happen to me. Please check out the alternatives sticky which is a great way to come up with other things to do instead of cutting. Like Andy said, telling someone is a great way to get help with SH. I know it is extremely difficult to trust someone to tell but it's worth it. Also read the Self Harm Resources sticky to find ways to stop or people to talk to. It's going to be hard but I know you can stop for good. Hang in there and stay strong!

Whatever it is, chances are I've been there.
If I can make it out, you can too.
