do i have to have a reason - October 5th 2009, 08:44 AM

well i havent cut in a while but i feel like i want to. not desperately, its just like an itch i cant scratch. anyway the weird thing is im not in any emotional pain and i havent felt like i want to self harm in quite a while its just kind of out of the blue. when i use to cut i was allways realy upset or kind of numb feeling but im not feeling any of that i just want to cut for no reason. it seems like there should be a reason. has anyone else felt like this?

Hey,

Yeah I have felt like that before. It can be hard to identify exactly why you want to self harm. But after all self harm is so addictive and sometimes you do just feel like doing it because of how addictive it is. You say you haven't done it for a while though, which I think is fantastic! I don't think you just want to throw that all away and start again. It won't be worth it and will just cause many more problems.

Have you tried checking out the alternatives to self harm thread? That has loads of helpful suggestions of things you can do rather than self harm.

Stay strong
