This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of self harm, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

It may not really be triggering. I don't know, but its jsut a precaution.

I recently started picking off scabs or any sort of bump on my arms. Also, in my scalp I have tons of bumps and I claw away at them until I don't feel them anymore. It gives me a horrible head ache but I do it anyways. Thats kind of the point.

With cutting it felt good. Doing this doesn't even feel good but I can't get myself to stop. I basically stopped cutting and now I'm doing this. Why? I know theres the thread up there about, is this self harm, and it is. But why am I doing it if it doesn't even feel good, ya know? Its weird because as soon as I feel a bump I have to claw away at it. I don't have to be upset. I just have to feel it. Am I the only one who does this?

Life is to short to put it off anymore
You gotta live it before it’s too late
I can’t turn that clock back around
On what you’re dreaming about
You better do it now, don’t wait

Do something crazy and dumb, while your still young. <3

I do that too. I'll pick at scabs and spots, which makes them look even worse, but I can't not do it. I'm not really sure why I do it but I think in my case it's about getting rid of imperfection. Like i'll see a scab and I hate scabs, I'd much rather have raw skin. Or like if I get a spot on my face I have to pick at it because I want to get it out of my skin, even though I know it'll just make it worse.
I've recently been putting PVA glue on my hand and then peeling it off when it's dry because that takes my attention away from picking at myself. Reminds me of being a kid too haha.
Hope this helped a bit x

I do the scab thing too, I pick at them, on my arms, face, anywhere else. One time, I clawed at a freckle until it started bleeding and turned into a scab. I pretty much always interfering with scabs healing. I've been doing such for years.

You're probably doing this BECAUSE it's a form of Self-Harm. Perhaps your reason for Self-Harm ISN'T to feel good, which would explain why you're doing this instead of cutting.

Maybe figuring out the exact reason why you cut may help you. If you've tried to Alternatives already and haven't succeeded, this may be why. Knowing is seriously half the battle. I wish you the best.

You are definitely not the only one that does this. I try not to pick my scabs since when you pick them they only end up scarring worse. It is a form of self harm and perhaps everytime you feel like doing it you could think about the scars you are going to leave yourself with. They will be worse if you pick at them. Remember you are not alone. Stay strong.

I do this ALL the time, especially lately, but i still cut to
I pick at scabs hours after iv cut and find it 'good' when its been a day or two, and i cant rip the scab right out.
leaving like a hole in my arm, eww
also the scalp thing i do this to... and i even pull hair out...
Like the others have said, its SH and its most likely becasuse ur not cutting, which is great!
And your in the 'habbit' now of doing something to hurt.
Like...i dont wanna pull my hair, or twist it round my fingers, but something inside me makes me do it...its something hard to control. just like yours.
you not alone with this
