brother found out - September 1st 2010, 03:18 PM

I have 6 brothers, five older and one younger. usually I'm more careful aboutt the cuts but I was playing xbox today when I rolled my sleeve up(kinda in the moment) I felt my little brother(14) touching my arm and just thought he was trying to ask me something. When I looked down I realized he had saw the cuts! He asked me what happen but I told him I scraped my arm while skateboarding. Next thing I know he's in my room and when I ask him what he is doing, he says he is looking for what I used to hurt myself and if he didn't find it, he would tell my older brothers! I would usually excpect my older brothers to do something like this but not my younger brother. What can I do to stop him from telling my brothers, and why is he like this when he is my younger brother? Am i the only one?

Hey,

Firstly, welcome to Teenhelp I hope you like it here and are able to get the support you need. If you ever need anything at all then don't hesitate to PM me.

Your little brother is obviously worried about you. With him only being 14 he probably doesn't know what to do and he thought it would be good to try to take off you what you use to hurt yourself so you couldn't do it. I was thinking what is the worst thing that could happen if your older brothers did find out? I think they will find out eventually and surely they are better to hear it from you rather than through someone else. Also maybe once your family know about your self harm you will be able to get the help you need to find other ways to cope. It could be a good thing if they knew. Then at least you wouldn't have to hide it and worry about them constantly finding out. It might be something to think about.

Stay strong

I completely agree with Jen. Please open another thread and tell us how you got on with it all x

How come dumb stuff seems so smart while you're doing it?
Good friends get drunk with you. Best friends hold your hair back when you've had a bit too much to drink!
There's no such thing as good girls gone wrong, only bad girls found out.
I've learned...
that maturity has more to do with what types
of experiences you've had and what you've
learned from them and less to do with how
many birthdays you've celebrated.
