new alternative - November 16th 2010, 02:11 PM

so, i haven't cut since September 22, 2010. i'm so excited!! this is the longest i've gone in a very long time. but last week was hard, so i got really close.

BUT i found a new alternative that i thought i would share. i bought some henna (semi-permanent tattoo stuff) and drew pretty designs that meant a lot to me on my wrists. i drew "esperanza" (hope in spanish), and a butterfly on the other one. now i know i can't cut b/c i don't want to mess up the henna, and even if i did i would have to look at the word hope the whole time.

i'm going to do some on my hips later today (my other self-harm spot).

just thought i would share

Hey Laura,

I'd like to start by saying congratulations on going all this time without harming yourself, that's an amazing achievement and you must be super proud of yourself for it because I certainly am! I'm really glad that you've found an alternative that works really well for you, I'm sure by you posting it here that maybe it'll be able to post somebody else in the community. Plus, I never knew esperanza translated to hope in English so I guess you learn something new every day! I hope that things continue to go well for you!

Take care and stay strong.
