Itchy scars. - November 20th 2010, 11:36 PM

Although I haven't cut in a long time I have some scars left from a year and a half to two and a half years ago. Recently they've been getting really itchy, even the ones that are almost invisible. Is there anything I can do to help this?? I've heard some things can help like massaging the scars and moisturising the skin around them, but what do other people do if they ever get this??

I have the same problem, my scars get itchy at really random times and I have also been wondering if there is anything that will help. If you find something please let me know.

I've actually never heard of this so I played with google a bit.

Quote:
It's part of the healing process. Itching is a result of the nerve endings around the scar being stimulated. At first, the stimulation is part of the healing. Itching may last months or years afterwards, though, as the scar tissue stretches and again stimulates the surrounding nerve endings.
If it's part of a healing process, I believe it's a good thing. Perhaps buy some of the products that help get rid of the scars to help it too? I'm not sure :/

It could be part of the healing process, but the scars are over a year old and they're only really started to itch recently. Thanks for replying though!!
