Arrow my family and me slipping... - December 13th 2010, 01:03 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of self harm, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

So iwas hanging out with some of my family and my dad's gf's family and then they got to the subject about cutting. Saying people who cut only do it for attention and that they are mental. And then his gf said if you want attention wear red...and i was wearing red. They just kept goin on about it they dont know i used to cut btw. And after hearing all of this i came home said i was sick and cut i havent in 4-5 months now. Idk what to think now after hearing what they said. I dont cut to get attention i do it to let stuff go, to make mental pain physical, its so hard to explain but im not doing it for attention. And idk if she was tryin to say i was wanting attention cuz i was wearing red... im so confused and i cant believe i slipped

I think it's normal to slip or want to slip anytime something triggering or stressful happens. Have you tried using rubber bands and/or writing in a journal?

Sounds dumb but rubber bands hurt to much my friends always see them on my wrist and snap them lol and i used to keep a journal but i was always worried of someone finding it.

There are other alternatives that produce a sensation, like massaging where you want to hurt yourself, rubbing ice there or running the area under cold water, or rubbing a muscle cream on. As for journaling, you could always do something on your computer or online and keep it password protected.
