Everyone's body heals differently and at different rates. If you've hurt yourself before (whether intentional or not) you can probably tell how long things like this will take to heal. The important thing now is to keep everything clean so you don't get infection. Using neosporin and bandades will also help reduce scarring. But mainly keep it clean and it'll take it's own time to heal.

Also, your mom probably only wants to see your arm because she loves you and is worried about you. It may not be such a bad idea to let her in a little. No parent wants to find out that their kid hurts themselves or feels bad enough to do so. She probably wants to help and maybe it's time to let her try.

Hey,

I think you should let your mom in on this, she has the right to know, in my opinion, she's your mom and cares about you and probably wants to help you deal with what causes you to cut. I know it's a hard thing to do, but letting someone help you could be a great thing, it's hard to get through tough times, or deal with really difficult things, alone and reaching out to her and knowing she will be there for you could be really helpful when you need someone.

i understand where people are coming from saying to let my mom in on it but its my sister im afraid of. shes VERY judgmental. she wouldnt understand and call me an emo loner with no friends. its just how she is. my mom tries to understand but its sooo awkward. idk. ive been cutting for two years and this is the first time my family noticed so it really bites. :/

Use waterproof make up and a lot of lotion. dont scrub, or irritate, and try to stay warm, the warmer you are the warmer your skin will appear to be and make the scars less visable. Make up helps a lot. and lotion will help smooth things out.
