Guys :
If you were dating a girl, would you want to know if she cuts?
Would you care if a girl had a guy name cut in to her skin?
Anyone:
Would you say graving someones name into my leg consider self harm? . So is it bad to cut 'matt' into my leg? It not cutting and I need some way to self harm.Do you think guys would care if you had a guys name on your leg?Help?!?

Ok, I'm not a guy but I'm a currently in a relationship with a girl so I hope you don't mind me replying?

I would want to know if my partner cut and I wouldn't mind if they had someones name cut into their skin because I see it as being a part of who they are and when I'm with someone I'd want to be with the whole of them.

And yes, I'd consider carving a name into your skin self harm. Self harm is deliberately causing harm to yourself whether through scratching, burning, cutting, pulling hair and carving words or a name.

If you want/need to ask or talk about anything else I'm here, take care.

Cutting a name into your skin is not something you want to do. It is self harm. Honey, is this a guy who broke your heart or your current boyfriend or what?

This is coming from someone who started cutting again after being over it for eighteen months for that exact reason, so please hear this: he has already hurt you, don't extend that by hurting yourself because of him. Seriously babe you are worth way more than that. Carving his name onto yourself is a seemingly helpful thing to you now. But you will move on. You shouldn't put his name on what doesn't belong to him darling.

If you don't mind saying, how did you hurt him without him knowing? And I completely understand the difficulty of having to always see them. But still, you are not his. Even when you were together, you were not his property, so his name does not belong on you. I know it's not easy advice to take, but it's better to become a more indipendant stronger you through this than to lose yourself to an addiction (cutting) because of if. <3

You made a mistake. That doesn't mean you should hurt yourself. Please please please give yourself half a chance to figure yourself out, make mistakes, learn about how things work. This is not a road you want to go down. I wish at 13 someone told me that

I know you've cut before but please stop. I understand how it feels to cut. You feel good right? Like you escaped everything you did and all your hurt right? But what about after? What about having to hide it? What about feeling ashamed? Feeling helpless without something you know isn't best?

Yes, I would say carving someone's name into your leg is still self-harm.
