Hey,
Don't be scared because at the end of the day the doctor is only there to help you. Perhaps you could write down what you want to say to the doctor? That way you won't have to say it all out loud and worry about explaining it. What do you think about that? You have already taken such a brave step in making the appointment. The next step is getting to the appointment. You can do it :-)

Hey there.

First of all I just want to say well done on booking that appointment to see your doctor. It isn't always an easy thing to do. I think your brave for doing so.

Going to your doctors and trying to talk about self harm (I'm guessing that's what your going to the doctors about as it's in the self harm forum) isn't always easy. Is it the talking about self harm that is making you scared? If it is, then your not alone with that. How about the option of writing down what you want to see your doctor about? And then handing that note to your doctor to read? The more information you include in the note about your self harm like what makes you do it, how long it's been going on for, etc, the more the doctor will be able to understand about your situation. They will be able to help and give you that support you deserve.

The appointment is a month away and it's quite a while yet until the appointment. I know it's easier said than done, but please try to not worry about it. Try and take things one step at a time, day by day. Doctors are there to help and will understand that you might find it hard to talk about something as hard as self harm. They will be understanding. It might make things easier if you brought a friend/family member along with you to the appointment for support? That's what I did when I saw my doctor about some things.

Hey

There is nothing to be afraid off, honestly. If you find you cant talk however, try writing down what you want to say, all the questions & info you want to ask.

Try not to stress yourself, the app. is a month away, just relax.

You can get through it & you will get the help you need.

I am going with my mum but she does not know about the cutting side of it, just the picking the scab side of it.

Do you think you could tell her about the cutting, or wait until you see the doctor?

I do agree with others about thinking of telling your mum about your cutting. It might be very hard to do, as you might not know how your mum will react about it. How do you think she'll react to you telling her? She might be understanding and be glad that you were able to confide in her.

If you do decide to tell her, you don't have to tell her face-to-face, you could write a letter to her explaining about things and leave it in a place she'll be able to find it? Just a suggestion.

I have thought about telling her, but then i also thought about just telling my doctor and not bringing my mum with me or going with my mum and just asking my mum if she would wait in the waiting room, or just telling my doctor with my mum there, or not telling my doctor, but tell my doctor that i would like to have counselling because i feel cant stop on my own. and then when i get counselling i could tell my counsellor that i also cut.

I think going in and asking to speak to the doctor alone would be a brilliant idea. =) Or even call ahead of time, and say you'd like to speak to the doctor alone for a bit, could he/she say that you guys need to talk alone, so that it's not some huge deal that you're asking her to leave. They're usually more than happy to do that.

It's hard to come out and talk about your self harm, but I'm proud of you for even considering it. =)
Maria.
