If you are doing it to hurt yourself intentionally then yes.

I have burnt myself with the straighteners when doing my hair before but if it is just an accident like that then it is not self harm.

Intentionally, yes. I have burnt myself using straighteners a few times but they were accidents.

Well it would be classified as self harm because the term self harm means you are hurting yourself on purpose. Burning yourself with a straightener is self harm.
Some people think self harm is only cutting, but anything that is harming you that has a purpose qualifies.

And here you are living, despite it all.

Hey there Daneille.

If you're hurting yourself in any way including burning yourself on purpose, then yes, its self harm.

I think they're both as bad as eachother. Physically, a burn and cut can both get infected, I suppose it's harder to tell if a burn is infected though. Mentally, the fact that you have the need to harm yourself (cutting or burning) is always a bad thing.

If you think you have a problem please tell a doctor and try and get therapy.
