talking just makes me want to do it even more - March 9th 2011, 01:39 PM

I've recently told my personal tutor via email that I missed a session due to self harm. I asked him not to bring it up again, but I saw him today and he did. He was telling me I should talk to my counsellor about it, like directly about the self harm. All the time he was talking I just felt so self conscious and just want to do it again. I know that it's not going to help but I don't know what else to do. I haven't in a week and I'm just off out now so will be unable to do anything then.

This is so frustrating! I talk about things, I just want to do it again, I don't talk about things and it just builds up until I do it again. What do you do when you reach this point?!

So if you love me, let me go. And run away before I know.

My heart is just too dark to care. I can't destroy what isn't there. Deliver me into my Fate - If I'm alone I cannot hate, I don't deserve to have you, My smile was taken long ago, If I can change I hope I never know I still press your letters to my lips And cherish them in parts of me that savor every kiss I couldn't face a life without your light But all of that was ripped apart, when you refused to fight

I definitely understand what you are saying. A lot of times talking about it can trigger me a lot, or just make me feel so uncomfortable that I feel like I need to. Still, I think talking to your counselor directly about self-harm would be a good idea. I put it off for weeks with my new counselor. But once I talked to her directly about it yesterday, she gave me such good advice that I think I may be able to stop. I know it's really uncomfortable, but I would try to push through and talk about it anyway. If you ever need to talk or ask questions, feel free to pm me

God, grant the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know that difference.
