I have to have a blood test tomorrow and i am panicing. My arms are covered in cuts. I even have the words fat and selfish carved into my arm. What am i supposed to do? I haven't told them i cut and i can't exactly hide it can i?

Now's a good time to let people know you need help,, I think. You can't self harm forever, and if you feel embaressed to show it to them then, warn them about it before hand.

usually, it's a nurse who takes blood and they don't usually do much when they see cuts/scars except ask if you're getting help or if you'd like to see someone about it. I'm not sure how old you are, but I'm pretty sure if you're over 16 you can ask them not to tell anyone and unless they reckon you're a huge risk to yourself (ie. suicidal), they can't tell anyone. Thats how it's worked for me at least. Good luck sweets x

What would i say to them if i was to say something before?
And if i am suicidal then do they have to say something? What if i lied and pretended that i wasn't (i am 17 btw) |

I've had loads of blood tests with scars and cuts and basically all that's been said usually is "wow! thats a lot of scars!", "are you seeing anybody for that?", "are you still doing that to yourself?"
It all depends on if you feel you need help or not, I would always suggest being honest and if they say anything, just say you'd be interested in getting help. However, if you're happy dealing with it on your own, just say that you're dealing with it on your own. They should respect your privacy. I'm pretty sure it's 16 in the UK when you don't have to have your parents know. If you are suicidal then I would recommend telling them as they have access to get you the help that you need and deserve. Obviously if you don't want anyone else to know you can say that you are already seeing someone or do not wish to get further help. A lot of the time though, they do not ask as they are busy and are basically only there to get blood. I wish you the best of luck though hun x Feel free to pm me if you need more detail. x |
