is there anything at all i could do - March 6th 2009, 03:46 PM

Okay, so im sorry that i feel as if i posted a lot lately- too much probably.

Its getting to the time again though, when its starting to get warm/hot whatever. The thing is though, today in P.E for example.. I am allowed to wear long sleeves under my P.E top to cover my self harm (there is no other way to cover it because there is so much) but its too hot to wear it. I dont know what to do because im overheating and feeling dizzy but i absolutely refuse to let people see my arms. Just wondering if there is anything to do, i dont think there is tbh im just planning on skiving off P.E during the summer or whatever. I do that a lot, cos, well i feel so self conscious about my arms and wearing a jumper anyway.

Theres nothing wrong with hidding your arms. I hide my legs, even during athletic season when I'm not supposed to wear anything more than a skirt (for field hockey.) For a solution try talking to your teacher to see if there is anything he can suggest. Or you could do what I did once, its kind of annoying though: get the smaller, flexible ice packs and tape them to your arms under your shirt. But it will also add a little more weight.

I don't blame you for not wanting to show your arms: something more lightweight than another shirt, though, (if your teacher will let you wear it) might be a mesh shirt or a shirt with some other lightweight pattern (think summerwear, or even lace); the pattern can help break up the scars so they won't be as noticeable. Hope this helps; take care.

Hey Jen Oh, the pain of hiding your arms. I know how you feel.
Maybe this forum will help: Cover-up Tips
It's got a lot of suggestions, so hopefully you find one that works.

Okay, I have to think. Haha. My friend has some spandex sort of thing, (Underarmor I think?) that is meant to help cool you off. Let me look around for it.

Otherwise, go for a light cotton undershirt or something yeah?

It says heatgear but it's for training, and says "For when it's hot" so I'm assuming it's for like, keeping you cool .
