Did it AGAIN :( - April 24th 2011, 07:47 AM

i have been trying really hard not to SH, but i did it again last night

i dont actually cut in the way you expect, i just use scissors and kind of slice little cuts. they usually dont bleed much, but i like the feeling, and how it gives me a little bit of a scar. i made 8 little scratch cuts, and its hard to hide them under my bracelet (its an "i <3 boobies" one, so pretty wide i guess) and i dont need anyone noticing. but i have a DR appointment soon and im worried they will see it too. but does anyone have any advice on how to stop doing this?

I'm so sorry to hear you're struggling with this. I understand how horrible dealing with SH is and it is hard to stop. Well done on trying and getting as far as you did, it's amazing and I'm so proud of you for doing that. Don't let one set back pull you away from acheiving your goal of stopping, because you can stop. You're strong and as long as you want to stop, you can, and you know this. You're capable of it, and things will get better.

Since you're asking ways to stop, I'm going to send you this link, and basically it's a list of SH alternatives. Now, not all of them are going to work, but the point is you have the find the ones that do. There's bound to be something there that can keep your mind off of SH, and that's what you should try to use. http://www.teenhelp.org/alternatives

I hope things get better for you, and that you find something that works for you. I want you to know that my PM box is always open for you to ask me anything you like, I'm happy to help you in whatever way I can. Keep your chin up, okay? You can do this, I know you can. You've got loads of people behind you on this. Stay safe, things will get better.

Take care always.

Hey there.

I definitely want to encourage you to take a look at the site which Hollie has previously sent you in a reply to this thread. Alternatives can be a really good way to helo us stop self harming and is something you should try. Not every single thing out there will work for you but there will be ones which do help so its all about trial and error. If you come across something which doesn't help. Don't let it get in your way, keep on trying new things.

How about you use seeing you doctor as a way forward? Admit to them about whats going on and reach out for help. Its okay to let people in, they can and they want to help you. Your doctor can be a great source of support and its all about you building support network. People care and love about you and they can help but they can only do so if you let them in otherwise they have no idea to whats going on for you right now.

I know its hard but you can beat self harm. You ARE worth more than it so don't stop believing and don't give up on hope.

Stay strong,
