Relapsed. - April 26th 2011, 09:16 PM

After over a year, I cut for the first time today. I'm disgusted with myself, and so ashamed. God, I'm such a freaking failure.

Hey Jo,

You are honestly not a failure and have nothing to be ashamed of. One year without self harm is absolutely amazing! You may have self harmed but it is only a slip up, which you can pick yourself back up from. You have done so well to go a whole year without it, which suggests that you can do it. But perhaps right now things are really hard and you just needed that release.

We all have slip ups though and the most important thing is what happens afterwards. You can pick yourself back up again or beat yourself up about it. The thing is though Jo you have already self harmed now and you can't change that. You should focus on how well you have done and just see this as a minor blip. You could never possibly be a failure after managing to go so long without it.

You are strong. You really can do it so try to think positive. Stay strong.

You can do anything you want to

Hey dear.

I'm really sorry things have gotten bad to the point where you've been struggling with urges and have ended up self harming. You don't deserve to be going through this.

I wanted to let you know that you are not a failure. That being a failure isn't relapsing, relapsing is part of recovery and you have come so far in to it that you should be proud. Its not about the slip ups, its about picking yourself back up again afterwards. You self harmed and so be it, you can move on and start over again because you have the strength.

You can do this.
