Question Soooo - June 8th 2011, 07:21 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of self harm, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I'm not new to cutting.... I am VERY familiar with it.
I graduated from abusing my arm, to abusing my thigh because of the hot weather. My arm has been scarred then cut over the scars, then scarred, and so on... so my arm is all the same color and you cant barely see faint lines....

My thigh I have my first real scar. It's been the same way for a month. Pink, and a line... its about 2 inches in length.
I guess im asking if any of you are like me in the sense that you have a pink scar... or if you have...
Is there an effective way to cover it... make up doesnt seem to work, do you guys have any suggestions... Im getting to the point where I feel like i need to kick this habit... of course I've been feeling this way for almost six years... its just been hard... anyhow....
suggestions?
if you have suggestions on how to stop please let me know... I'm trying to get better.

Rachel,

Well done on posting here and asking for help, I'm proud of you for reaching out to us on TeenHelp in an attempt to 'kick the habit' of SH. I'm sure you're going to be fine in doing it, and although it will be a struggle, you're strong and you're beautiful, so you can do this with help and support! So try talking to some friends or a family member about it, I'm sure they'll be happy to help you recover from this.

As for stopping; well I have a link for some alternatives that you can try out. http://www.teenhelp.org/alternatives Not all of these are going to work for you however, but keep trying to find the ones that do, and DON'T be put off by the ones that are less affective! I'm sure if you keep looking and don't give up hope, you'll find some that help you on your road to recovery!

Remember you can PM me any time and I'm happy to help if you need someone to talk to. I wish you all the luck for the future and every moment of happiness that comes your way. You can do this! Stay strong, okay?

Smile!
Hollie.

It's good that you want to stop.

As for getting rid of the scar, there are gels and creams that will help lessen the brightness of the scar and soften the skin. Mederma is one that I used..

If it's fresh then it'll go away even sooner.. Other than that I would say just leave it? I mean if you really hate it then there are some creative ways to cover it, but I never really bothered covering up my scars if there's just one.

Good luck! <3
