Heatwave........ - June 26th 2011, 09:23 AM

It's going to be really hot today. I'm planning on staying inside but there are things I have to go outside for.

Any tips regarding sleeves and covering scars? Excuses for wearing thick clothes, to my parents?

bracelets are usually quite good for covering scars. As for legs I usually just go for jeans , you could also try wearing a 3 quarter length cardigan and bracelets. or cropped jeans or linen trousers.

Ooh ok. I don't have any make-up and I'd need a lot of bracelets..
Thanks for the replies

How did you cope with the heat today? Hope it wasn't too bad for you. I just wore my shorts and long sleeved running top. Parents didn't ask thankfully but would've just said I was planning on going for a run if they did.

Re: Heatwave........ - June 27th 2011, 02:01 PM

only for a day? wow. we had a four day heat wave and it was in the 90's the whole time. i had no idea what to do to cover up. one day i tried just keeping my arms turned in and close to my side, but a friend saw and i had to pull "my friends cat scratched me" right outta my ass. hahaha she BARELY bought it! so the other four days i faked an injury. i had an old wrap from when i sprained my thumb, and so i wrapped it around my arm/hand and pretended i fell and twisted it and i had to keep it on for a week. everyone bought it. no questions asked.

Try "I dont want to get sunburn" This could perhapse be used with something like "I don't like suncream"

This admitedly works best with people you know less well that your parents, who may then become suspicisos as to why you are suddenly so protective. In wich case you could try thigns such as:
-worried about skin cancer
-I want to be the only one who is not burnt
-I have learnt that burnt skin is very painfull/unconfortable
ect

Hope this help's
