Unhappy Not cool to do, but I've started again - July 14th 2011, 06:16 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of self harm, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

Lately I've been cutting myself. I feel so helpless, and I know it's not gonna help any to hurt myself, but the physical pain isn't nearly as bad as the emotional pain. I just want to be happy, it seems that's too much to ask. I feel like I'm a lost cause, and someone I thought was my friend actually told me that if this is what I'm gonna do, then I am a lost cause. I never wanted to live in depression to the point where cutting my skin seems like a good idea, but since I've made it there a little help would be just fantastic.

Well, for starters, cutting is a coping method- though not a very good one- but it certainly is not a sign of helplessness. I don't think there is such a thing as a lost cause. I think that rather than causing new physical pain, it would be better to deal with the emotional pain, heal it rather than simply masking it with self harm. You should speak with someone you trust like a school counsellor, phycologist, doctor, teacher, friend or parents, to work out how to solve whats causing you to feel depressed and cut. I know that it isn't easy, but it isn't impossible and you aren't a lost cause no matter what anyone says. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk, and I will do my best to help.

Hey there, I want to stress the point that you are not a lost cause ok? Just because you are cutting doesn't mean there is no hope for you, you just need to find a better coping strategy. It will take time, but you can do it.
If you want to talk about what is causing your emotional pain you can talk to me until you find a professional, or even if you just want someone to talk to, I'm around a lot

"Friends are like stars; you don't always see them but you know they are always there"

"It gives me hope. I love you so much. You give me a reason to breathe. Its something for me to not kill myself for" >>> means so much :')

Hey, you my friend are so not a lot cause. You can beat this. I struggle with this very thing every day and I totally get it. While knowing that it will not actually help any in the long run we still feel the urge. You are not weak for this, in the end when you have beaten it ( because you will ) you will come out stronger. Please feel free to pm or vm me anytime if you want to talk, vent, or just want a friend. I will always reply.
~much love, shana <3 ~
