All I want is just to cut myself! (NEED HELP!)

Hi guys.

I have been feeling a bit down for the last few weeks (maybe months) and today I found out I just want to cut myself. I just want to feel the hurt! Make me feel I'm really someone, someone that people might care about..

I don't know how or when I should do this.. So could anyone give me tips?


And if someone reads this that also ones has cut him or herself, could you tell me your experience?

Sometimes i feel like i want to cut myself, but what i do is i wear a rubber band around my wrist and if i feel a strong urge to hurt myself, i flick my arm or wrist with it a few times. It hurts (not AS much) and it doesnt leave any marks. Just remember don't flick yourself too hard, just do it lightly.

PLEASE don't start cutting yourself. It's not worth it, it becomes an addiction, an awful cycle that is just so hard to break. And believe me, it won't make you feel any better. It might feel like it at the time but honestly, it's just adding to your list of problems as there's so many issues that come with it; It's not nice when your friends and family found out and it's most certainly no fun keeping covered up in trousers and hoodies all Summer! I know you asked for tips on how and where to do it, but I can't tell you that, I can't encourage you to do something that most of us are trying so badly to stop! I've not cut in around 5 weeks now and I'm still sat here, really struggling with the urge. Trust me, you do NOT want to go down this route. I'm sorry if this sounds really harsh but I would do absolutely anything to stop someone else going the same way and I'm sure a lot of people on here will agree.
By all means I'll be here for you if you ever want to talk about anything, but there's no way I'm going to tell you how to do it. Please hun, talk to us about what's making you feel this way.

but i dont recomend you do, i cant stop you because it's you're decision but i can tell you the feeling of feeling better will not last for more than a few minuets if that. all it will do is cause more problems... please don't do it in the long run it wont help and it will make you feel like you arent normal and that you're different from everyone around you and that no one can help. trust me i know from experience this is not the best way to deal with any problems, just go outside take a walk, call a friend, just anything else that doesnt involve you hurtting yourself.

Please don't do it. I encourage you to seek help in your life and reach out to friends, family, etc. I know it can be hard and life can be tough but just keep hanging on because it will be alright. If you feel the urge to cut you can take a shower or trace where you wish to feel the pain with ice. Sometimes if you need to clear your head you can go for a walk and if you feel angry and need to stab or scratch at something you can take a knife to an orange or squeeze pillows to death. There are alternatives. Please don't get yourself into this cycle. You are strong and you can do this. PM me if you have any questions! <3

You wanted to hear about someones experince with it? My experience with it is hell. Torture. And I am struggling to stay strong. You say to urself i wont let it get out of hand but you cant control it. Its an a addiction. A painful addiction that is nearly impossible to stop. I am begging you, dont start. Please look to this list of alternatives to help fill the urges. But do not cut. Please.

OMG, I just don't know what to do..
I just really want to cut myself, but I'm afraid it will hurt, but still.. And now you said stuff like this.. It really makes me confused, but that is in a good way, you telling me not to.
In some way I don't want to do this.. But what if I do it ones? I bet I'll never feel oke.. And that I'll never forgive myself for doing this..

The thing I'm struggling with is.. I think I'm fat and ugly.. But people around me tell me I'm not, and they think I'm crazy for thinking this. I really don't know what to do.. And I hope alot of people see this.. Because I just know I'm not the only one around here feeling like this.

Oo, and before anyone comments. I'm not like those girls that want the perfect body for being a model.. I just don't want to have doubts about my body.

Hey there,

You say you don't want to feel self conscious about your body. To me, that's one of the many reasons NOT to self harm. Imagine constantly trying to hide your scars, worrying that people might see them, always wearing long sleeves so that no one will find out. Do you know how self conscious that will make you feel? It's just one of the many ways self harm will add even more problems to your life.

I know it seems like self harm would be a relief, and I'm not going to lie, it is... for about ten seconds. But when you consider the endless amount of time you will worry about others finding out, the pain you will put your family and friends through when they do find out (and they usually do), and the many other issues self harm will create, those ten seconds are definitely not worth it. Especially not when there are so many other things you can do to gain relief for longer periods of time, and in healthier ways.

I would definitely check out the list of alternatives that you were linked to above. You need to look for something that will truly help you, not numb the pain momentarily and simply make things worse for you. It might seem like the answer, but take it from someone who has been through self harm. It only makes things worse.

Hi guys, this is my 3rd post.
I know you are all telling me not to cut myself.. trust me, I don't want to!! But just this morning, I cut myself..
I really just needed to do this, and it didn't hurt a bit.. it only tickles.
But now, I sort of can't forgive myself.. And I know this isn't the last time, because it didn't hurt so I might do it again.. Not that I want to.. Just because I'm allready dealing with this probleme for so long..
I told my probleme in my 2nd post, does anyone konw what to do?

Definitely look at the list of alternatives justfallinginlove put a link to. Not all of them will help, but some will, so try that before you cut. I even printed out the list (and marked the ones that worked) so I can have it with me when I feel like cutting.

Honestly, you should've listened to all them. All of us regret that we ever made that first cut because its addicting and takes over your whole life. I hope you realize that you're screwing yourself over and decide not to get any farther into it. Good luck.

Of course we understand, heck, we've been there. But honestly, you don't need to do this to yourself. Please, stop it now whilst you still have the option. None of us want to see you going down this route and that's why everyone tried so hard to stop you! I'm sure you're not fat or ugly hun. But even if you are, self harm is only going to make you feel even worse about yourself. I hate the fact that I have to wear long sleeves all the time, that I can't just wear my bikini and shorts in the summer like everyone else. I look at my scars and even though I've given up, I think they're hideous and it really brings me down. Please don't continue down this route hun. Go for a walk, a run, chat in the chat rooms, post a message on here, anything. Seriously though, we can't help you unless you want to help yourself. If, God forbid, you ever got to a place where we are now, you'd be just as frustrated as we are for someone not listening. I really do hope you take our advice.

I guess it's just, I cut myself when I feel down/sad or something.. So I'll try to stop it. I'm not (yet..:s) adicted! And I might even talk to a good friend of mine about it.
I'm not yet cut free, but with you all writing this.. I just feel I've got no other option than just trying to stop!

It's gonna be hard but it's also the best I can do!
