Not at all. Its a good coping mechanism.
If it helped you to not want to, and its not doing damage, then its okay. I used to do it, but I broke the skin/bruised my wrist. Not a good idea for me. But it isn't SH. I'm here for ya

Hey there,
Snapping a rubber band against your wrist is a good alternative to Self Harm as you still get little bit of pain but you aren't damaging your body. If it gets to the point where you are breaking the skin or it is leaving bruises I would suggest taking a look at some other alternatives. The alternatives thread is useful for this; while not all of them may work for you, hang in there and you WILL find one that does. 34 days is brilliant, keep going, you can do this! Feel free to PM me if you ever want to talk, Take care, Charli

I'd say it depends on the severity of it. In the long term, I do not think this is a good coping mechanism but I think it's okay while you try to find healthier ways to cope as you try to stop self harm.
"'Colie, you should never be surprised when people treat you with respect. You should expect it.' I shook my head. 'You don't know--' I began. But, as usual, she didn't let me finish. 'Yes,' she said simply, 'I do know. I've watched you, Colie. You walk around like a dog waiting to be kicked. And when someone does, you pout and cry like you didn't deserve it.' 'No one deserves to be kicked,' I said. 'I disagree,' she said flatly. 'You do if you don't think you're worth any better...'" |

Hey
I think that youre using it as a good alternative, and its not self harm in your case . But, in the last Seventeen magazine, it featured snapping youself with a rubber band when youre stressed. This is how my friend starting SH, and I dont think it was appropriate to put in a magazine :SCongrats on being free for 34 days! |

Yep, it's fine as long as you're not bleeding or bruising. Congrats on the 34 days! If you need any more alternatives, remember the self harm alternatives page! http://www.teenhelp.org/forums/f12-s...ves-self-harm/
