Question Is it self harm? - July 31st 2011, 05:09 AM

I jumped off my garage roof the other day with the intention of "flying" and got hurt. I was really upset and so i wanted to cut, but couldn't find my knife. So i jumped. Does it count as self harm?

The definition of self-harm is intentionally causing physical harm to your body. If you jumped off the roof hoping you would hurt yourself, then yes, in my opinion, it is self-injury. Why would you jump off your roof? How high was it? Did you jump onto cement? You could have seriously hurt, hospitalized, or worse. Why did you think you could fly?

the guy i have liked for over a year told me i'm a worthless slut who needs to die. i jumped onto grass, and landed funny. about 25 feet high, i was depressed and angry and who knows what else. i thought maybe by some miracle i might sprout wings. :/ my ankle swelled up a bit. the swelling has gone down, but it's still in some pain.

I don't have any medical expertise, but you may have broken your ankle, or at least sprained it. You need to tell someone what happened immediately. Trust it from someone who refused to go to the doctor after I tore ligaments in both ankles, and now I cannot run for the rest of my life. Go to the doctor and tell them what happened. I am sorry that the guy you liked told you that. Don't listen to what he says. If he said that, he is not worth your attention.
