Hey

I'm really sorry to hear about your problems, it must be really difficult for you having to see all those scars each day on your arms. The title of your thread stated that you need to stop, and you know what, your right! The fact you have acknowledged that you need to stop tells me that you have the strength, courage and determination to do so. It's not going to be easy, but it is possible and I believe that you can do it

Have you ever tried distractions? Have a look at this website: http://www.palace.net/llama/psych/fself.html It has a list of distractions that you can match to how you are feeling, that way they might be more effective for you!

Have you any idea what triggers you wanting to self harm? Is there something particular? Is it when you feel angry? Sad? Stressed? For each person who self harms, their triggers are completely different, which also means that the distraction that works for them is different too! If you can't identify what triggers you, maybe after you've hurt yourself you could write down how you were feeling before, what you were thinking, your thoughts, what happened that day, or what happened recently. If you keep a record you might be able to spot a pattern which can help you figure out your trigger That way we have something to work with, and we can help you reduce your self harm until you have totally stopped, which would be fantastic!

Have you got anyone around you at the moment who knows about your problems? If not it might be an idea to talk to someone close to you, a friend, teacher, doctor, someone like that. They can support you in any way you need supporting and help point you in the direction of extra services to help you You'll honestly feel like there's a massive load of your mind once you've spoken to someone. The bigger support network you have around you the better

If you ever want to chat about anything you're going through at the moment, please just get in touch, I'm always here to listen Look after yourself, and take care.
